Richmond Recruitment 5/8/10

Saturday May 8th 2010, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be doing a tour for recruiting and patrolling in Richmond. The city of Richmond is in development for a Guardian Angel Chapter, but it does have a true leader. The chapter leader for Richmond is Shadow and he will be the one in charge of this tour. For the San Francisco Guardian Angels it is an honor to help out a brother chapter when we can and it has been in our plans to do so. Now it is time to step up to the plate and get Richmond on the list of Chapters in the United States.

All the SFGA start arriving at the HQ around 8:00am for this tour. All the angels have changed into their uniforms and all the angels are ready for prebrief. Prebrief helps put the plan together for this tour and gives all the angels an idea of what we need to do in the city of Richmond. Now we are ready, ready to travel over to Richmond.



We get on BART, we get to our stop (El Cerrito Del Norte Station), we meet up with Shadow at the Walgreen's store, and next he puts two teams together for this tour. Shadow will lead team one and Greencard will lead team two. Next we hit the streets to talk to the people of this community and to get new members for this chapter.



We then march to the TARGET shopping center. As we were there, we did talk to a few people. They were glad to see us out here, but not interested. The day is still early and there is a lot of area to cover. Next, we get to a park and this park is one of the places that Shadow wants to do recruiting, so we march all around the park and we talked to everyone that we could talk to. This was a good spot to do this. We meet all kinds of people that are very interested, we meet recreation counselors, we meet community leaders and we got phone numbers for possible recruits.





But we are not done yet. We still have some patrolling to do, so we start marching, marching down the main street of Richmond. We did get recognized by some media and he stops the patrol to ask if he could get some footage of the angels, which he did and also had an interview with Shadow. As we were done with that, the police stops the patrol and asked us what we were doing out on the streets and we explained that we were out recruiting for new members and looking for supporters for a new chapter that we were starting in this city. They thought that we were having some kind of protest, or having some kind of parade. It did get resolved and they left and we began our march through the area, street by street , corner by corner. This was all we could do. There was nothing happening at this time, so Shadow decides to call it a day and marches the teams back to the BART.





On our way back we detoured through a bike trail/walking trail that this community uses. As we march through this trail we see all kind of graffiti and this graffiti is from all kinds of gangs, gangs like MS13, Crips, Bloods, Surenos, and Nortenos.





But we keep marching to get to the BART. As we get closer to the BART, we come up on some men drinking alcohol, so we had to take there alcohol from them and pour it out and advised them that there is NO drinking in public. We then got back to Walgreen's store across the street from BART to do our debrief. This was a little different being outside, but Shadow does not have a HQ yet, but eventually he will with the support of this city. We did get about 15 to 20 phone numbers, for Shadow to call back, set up meetings, to get them involved in there city, and to get a Guardian Angel Chapter started in Richmond.

Tenderloin patrol, 4/3/10

On Saturday 4-3-2010, San Francisco, San Pablo and Sacramento Guardian Angels went to patrol the Tenderloin. Lion of the San Francisco Chapter, led a patrol of 21 Angels which began up O'Farrell Street. Two patrols were split up from one, Lion led patrol one and Apache led the second patrol. The main areas in which we patroled were Taylor, Levinsworth, Larkin and Post. These areas are known for the drug infestation and hang-outs in the parks and in the alleys. Syringes were found along with paraphernalia- round metal containers with plastic baggies containing tiny cottonballs. A undischarged bullet was also found.

Apache led the second patrol on the opposite side of patrol one as we posted up on the corners of Ellis and Jones to observe any possible criminal activity at the Asian Festival Celebration. We posted up near the Asian Crip gang members who were on Taylor and O'Farrell. Both teams marched up pass Van Ness Ave to an area in back of a Burger King well known for prostitution, Drug use and homeless people. More needles were found in that area and we posted up for a time. Both teams marched back down Post Street to HQ. Overall, it was a great patrol. Lion- San Francisco Guardian Angels.

Richmond and Oakland patrol, 2/20/10

On Saturday 20, 2010, chapters from Northern California (Sacramento, Stockton, Solano County, San Pablo, San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco) answered the call from our state coordinators to assist Shadow, the chapter leader from the city of Richmond, to recruit members and start patroling the city due to the high areas of crime that were spreading throughout the near by counties.







All Guardian Angels from differents cities got together at El Cerrito Del Norte Bart Station, at noon time. 26 Guardian Angels answered the call. Cristina, the coordinator, gathered all leaders and started making the plan for the day. We decided to split in two groups, one of each side of the street. Green Card, Spider and Scorpion lead the first group, while Sir Kent, Omar and Cristina led the second.





We started walking down on San Pablo Ave. to Mcdonald Ave. Then we walked toward 23rd St. On the way there we decided to pass by 28th St. While we were walking in the neighborhood, some residents were outside their houses and we started introducing ourselves. We told them what we were trying to do in the city. We gave some flyers out and noticed that some people were afraid, but others were glad to see us there.





On the way to Cutting Blvd. we noticed that some residents started taking pictures of us from inside their houses and they gave us the "thumbs-up" signal. They were happy when we told them that we were going to start patrolling the area in the near by future.



We were in the area for almost 3 hours and in every street many drivers that were passing by either gave us the "thumbs-up", honked their horns as a way to greet us, or gave us smiles.





Then we went to Oakland to patrol the Fruitvale area. Cristina led the group. We patrolled the International Blvd. all the way to the Oakland GA's Headquarters. Everything went okay. There were no incidents at all ...







In times in which our fellow Angels from others cities need assistance because of the growth of crime, we work as one, as brothers and sisters, as Guardian Angels united in fighting the same cause: "Crime" as effective visual deterrents.

Friday, 6/19/2009, San Pablo

The SF Guardian Angels will be going to a community meeting in SAN PABLO. This is a meeting to see if they are interested in starting a Guardian Angel Chapter there.

The Angel that has been requested to be the chapter leader there is SPIDER, SPIDER has been in the Guardian Angels for 7 years, and he has been a leader for 2 years. He is a qualified Guardian Angel, he is a First Aid Instructor, this is the angel for the job if they are ready for a chapter there.

The angels meet at the HQ at 08:00am to go to this meeting, they got to SAN PABLO at the meeting around 10:00am. The meeting had already started, the Oakland Chapter Leader (AJAX) was there, the Solano Chapter Leader ("O") was there and now we had our members from San Francisco Chapter there. The meeting was not going as expected, and there was not the right questions asked, there was not an agreement at this time. So it was undecided for a Guardian Angel Chapter to be started in this city, but there will be more decisions on this issue in there upcoming meetings as stated.

The angels had agreed to leave the meeting and to go back to our chapters to report on how the meeting went. I J.D. received this report and I understood how this meeting could go the way it did, things don't always go the way you want them, you have to work at it, and you have to be honest about it. But we will hopefully wait and see how this turns out, and to see if they will contact us in the future, we are GUARDIAN ANGELS and we don't give up. Read the rest
