Mission night patrol, 11/21/09

Saturday November 21st 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be doing a night patrol in the Mission Dist. and we will have a reporter with us as a walk along to see what we do. All the angels who will being going on this patrol start arriving at the HQ around 3:00pm and even the reporter has arrived at this time, now we are ready to begin the schedule. We start out with our prebrief and our upcoming events, next we pick the patrol leaders and the teams for tonight's patrol. Scorpion will be the patrol leader for both teams, Hunter will be leading the shadow team, I J.D. will be the tail of the shadow team with the reporter, next we hand out all the radio's for communication, now we are ready for patrol.

Scorpion takes charge and we march to the bus stop, we all get on bus #14, we get to our stop which is the 16th street BART STATION where we all post up. The drug dealers take off, some went that away and some went this away because they know who we are, we did see money exchange hands but we did not see any of the drugs. Scorpion calls it, all clear lets move out, next we get to the alleys, Hunters Alley and Lovers Lane Alley, we pick up some dirty needles an put them in the containers that we carry, we pick up someones stash, a nice and almost new crack pipe, we smashed that to pieces.

Scorpion then marches the teams to Kid Power Park but it is locked, this is good because kids don't play in the dark, only bad guys. Scorpion then marches the teams back to the 16th street BART STATION where we all post up again, it is still all clear. Next we begin to march up Mission Street to the 24th street BART STATION, along the way we did stop at the Allioto Park it too was locked up, Scorpion then marches the teams back to Mission Street where we stop and take a few photos, but we do get to 24th street BART STATION where we all post up, no bad guys here.

Next Scorpion takes us down a new alley before we get to Travis Alley, but both alley's are all clear. Scorpion then decides to march down Capp Street, this street is a well known prostitute area, so we march, we check on a few homeless that where asleep on the sidewalks to see if they needed any medical attention, they advised to us that they where OK. Next Scorpion marches the teams back to Mission Street, this is where we turn right to march back down to 16th street BART STATION, before we get there we help a store owner move his fruit stand back inside his store, we helped a homeless man with his hand with first aid, we gave directions to tourist.

Next Scorpion calls it a night but decides that we all should go and get some STARBUCKS before we head back to the HQ, this was a great idea because we all like coffee.

Next we got to the HQ, we did our debrief and we all appreciate on how this night turned out because we all came back safe and we all did a great job as the San Francisco Guardian Angels.

We do wish to Thank Lisa for a great job as our walk along and that she is always wecome to come back anytime. Please do stay in touch, because people like you know how important it is to write what you see and not write what you don't.

Haight, Golden Gate Park patrol, 11/14/09

Saturday November 14th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be patrolling the Haight Ashbury Dist. today. All the angels start arriving at the HQ around 11:00am to get ready for patrol, to change into uniform and to do our prebrief. The leader of this patrol will be Williams, he has been in the chapter for some time now and we need to see if he can lead the patrol. Williams will be lead team and Scorpion is his shadow team, next we partner up and hand out all the radios for communication. I J.D. and Greencard will be observers and only observers, this is not first time we have tried this, we have to see how this patrol turns out.

Williams makes the call let's move out, we all march to the bus stop, we get on bus #6 to the Haight Ashbury Dist. we get off at the main street of the Haight, we post up, we team up, and we march down the main street to Golden Gate Park. There were no bad guys, no drug dealers, and no gang bangers, this is good for the main street of the Haight. Now we are at the Golden Gate Park, the teams are ready so we march into the park and before you know it Williams team acknowledges drug activity and drinking in public from a group, so we all post up while he and his partner makes communication with the group, the group hides everything they have and denies they had anything.

At this time the SFPR, San Francisco Park Rangers arrive, one ranger comes up to the group and Williams and ask is there a problem, the group calmed down and said the angels should not be here and that we are the ones that started it by interrupting their partying. The Ranger said there is no partying in the park and that they needed to move along, they said they would if the angels would, the Ranger called his supervisor to come to the area, he showed up and talked to me and Greencard and advises the chapter to call ahead of time to check in first if we could before we come into this district, we agreed and receive their phone contact.

Williams marched us out of the park back to the main street (Haight Ashbury), our next stop is David's house, David is one of our supporters, we get there, and David invites us all to come in, we all talk about the neighborhood on how it is getting, and how it is getting a little better, next we thanked David and marched back to our bus stop. We get on the bus, we get back to the HQ, we began our debrief, and everything turned out not to bad, everyone learned something today and everyone came back safe, I would like to thank Williams and his leadership on a well done job!

Mission day and night patrol, 11/7/09

Saturday November 7th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be doing day and night Back to Back Patrols, with a break in between the patrols. We also have a special guest with us from another chapter, her name is Lisa, she will be observing and marching right along with us on both patrols. All the angels start arriving at 9:00am to change into uniform and to be partnered up for this patrol, next we begin our prebrief about the schedule for today and tonight. Today's patrol is the Mission Dist. Greencard will be lead team and I J.D. will be shadow team, we hand out all radios for communication, now we are ready for patrol.

We march to the bus stop, we get on bus #14, we get off at the 16th street BART STATION and post up. Next Greencard advises both teams to march to Kid Power Park, Hunter's Alley and Lover's Lane Alley to do a sweep, (to make sure it is all clear). Both teams get to Kid Power Park, it is all clear, next Greencard advises my team, shadow team to march to the alleys to finish the sweep and that his team will march back to the BART STATION to post up. While the shadow team is checking the alleys, Greencard radios shadow team to come to his location at 16th street, that there was an accident involving a bicycle and a vehicle.

We the shadow team got there but had posted up across the street from Greencard's team just in case he needed backup with any help, while his team assessed the injured, the police arrived, and the paramedics arrived they then took over the situation but ask Greencard to stand by for his information.

Greencard then advised my team to go back to sweep the alleys, we got to the alleys, we pick up needles, and we put them in the containers we had, the alleys are all clear. Next Greencard advises the teams to meet at the 16th street BART STATION so that the teams could next march up to 24th street BART STATION, this is how we do our tour. We march up Mission St. we get to one of our other spots Allioto Park, both teams check on this park, but it to is all clear, so we march to the Walgreen's store on 23rd street, where we post up, and we break for water and to use restroom. The owner of this store is one of our supporters for our chapter, he is always grateful to see us.

As we where talking with him a shoplifter was running from a vendor to our direction, we had caught him and we had to handcuff him, but the vendor was wanting to hurt him, so we had made sure they did not come together. We had called the police but this was not an emergency, so they said they would send someone as soon as they could, so we decided to talk to the vendor to see if he did not want to press any charges, he said he would not if the young male did not come anywhere close to his store, the young male agreed, so we took the handcuffs off him and send him the other direction, so we called the police back to canceled the call, they canceled it.

So it all worked out, we got back to our patrol to finish this tour, we got to 24th street BART STATION posted up for awhile, it was all clear. Greencard called it, this tour was a good tour but it must end, so we got on the #14 bus and headed back to HQ, we got to HQ to do debreif and to get some rest for our night patrol.

Night Patrol is a dangerous patrol because more bad guys come out at night, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels still have the same amount of angels for this patrol, 16, and the area is the Tenderloin Dist. I J.D. will be lead team and Greencard will be shadow team, we have almost the same partners and both teams are still even, we will use all radios for communication. Now we are ready for patrol and we ready to march out to our area, next stop is Turk St. it is peaceful but we are alert, we get to 201 Turk St. Apts. post up for awhile, it is all clear. I J.D. and my team is on one side of the street and Greencard is on the other side, next we go all the way to Van Ness St. no bad guys, so we turn around back into the Tenderloin Dist. to check out the alleys, they to are all clear. Next we march to COBRA'S CORNER, I cannot believe my eyes on how quiet it is, but it is, so we march to O'Farrell St. We march down this area, it too is all clear, we did get to 631 O'Farrell Apts. posted up for awhile, all clear.

Now we are going to tour a new street, Larkin St. so we march down a few streets and had came upon a homeless female that was hurt, her hand was infected and you could see the bone sticking out of her hand. First Aid Angels had did what they could for her hand, next was to call 911 for an ambulance, they arrived and she was sent to the hospital, we all did a good job by helping and caring for this woman, this is what we do.

Next we marched to United Nations Center and as soon as we got there we noticed the young male that we had dealt with today in the Mission, so we stopped to talk with him, and he explained to us that his hand needed a bandage, so our first aid angels helped him with his hand, next thing you know there was a fight. A fight between two males, it had been about he said this and he said that, so we broke it up at the same time first aid was assisting the young male for his hand. But we handled it in a professional way.

Now it is calm and it is late, now it is time to march back to the HQ, we get back to the HQ and we debrief and we change back into our street clothes. We have never done a back to back patrol like this one and we will want to do more like this one, but it has to be planed and it has to have first aid or you could not do as good as the job as we had done tonight or today.

Thank You First Aid
Thank You Teams
Thank You Leaders
And Thank You So Much Lisa For Your Dedication!

Mission patrol, 10/31/09

Saturday October 31st 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be patrolling the Mission Dist. tonight and tonight is Halloween. The angels started arriving at the HQ around 3:00pm to change into uniforms and to begin our prebrief, most of all to be focus on tonight's patrol for SAFETY. We made sure everyone had their flashlights and we made sure everyone had their gloves, this helps us to do a better job for seeing in dark places and to handle anything we have to pick up. Tonight Greencard will be the patrol leader, he decides that we will start out as one team then we will break off into two teams if necessary, next we partner up and hand out the radios for communication. We march to the bus stop, we get on bus #14, we get off at our stop, and our stop is the 16th street BART STATION, as we are posting up we see families with their children trick or treating, and we see drug dealing and we see drinking in public. The drug dealers take off soon as they see us (the GAs), as for the drinking we ask or take their bottles of alcohol peacefully and we pour it out and say have a nice and safe Halloween.

Next Greencard decides to break off into two teams, Greencard will be team one, and I J.D. will be team two, he then advises me J.D. to investigate Hunter's Alley and Lover's Lane Alley and that he will stay posted up at the BART STATION but to keep radio contact with him at all times. I J.D. and my team march to the alleys, we get there and there are needles all over place, so we clean house by picking them all up very carefully and putting them into Bio-Hazard containers. This is what we do to prevent diseases and we don't want to see anyone get stuck by one with blood or drugs still left in them.

Next we march back to Greencard at 16th street BART STATION except my team is on one corner and his team is on the other corner, now it looks like there are more people, more families, more kids. Greencard advises we march, team one on one side of the street and team two on the other side of the street all the way to 24th street BART STATION, along the way we post up on some corners, we investigate Allioto Park, it was all clear. Now both teams are at 24th street BART STATION, we post up and Greencard advises me J.D. to investigate Travis Alley and that he will stay posted up at the BART STATION but to keep radio contact with him at all times. I J.D. and my team march to the alley, we get there and it too is bad with needles, we clean it up and now we have four containers full with needles from all the alleys.

Next we march back to Greencard at the 24th BART STATION, his team on one corner and my team on the other, next Greencard advises the teams to march down 24th street to Potrero, the teams on both sides of the street, along the way post up on some corners took a few pictures, not bad for this area, all clear. Next we march back to 24th street BART STATION, we posted up on both corners, we stopped some skate boarders from skating because of the children that where around but other than this it was peaceful. Next Greencard advises the teams to march back to 16th street BART STATION, along the way it started to get a little crazy, we took some more alcohol from partiers and poured them out, bottles were being throne into the street, and there was a lot of public intoxication. But now we see more Police are in the area, before we did not see not one officer walking the street, we think they were in the CASTRO and they were.

We get to 16th street BART STATION and it does seem to be calming down, Greencard decides to call it a night, we now are waiting for the bus #14, while waiting we take a few more pictures and here comes the bus, as we were getting on the bus a man and his buddy was getting off drinking a beer, Greencard grabbed it from him and he wanted to fight Greencard over this. I J.D. advised all angels off the bus, we had to settle this because this guy was very drunk and we did not take any chances, it cooled down and he went on his own way. This Halloween we will always remember and we will never forget, the Mission Dist. is one of the communities that we love and we respect, and it is a SAFE neighborhood that anybody can live there. We did get on the next bus and we did get back to the HQ safely, we change back to our street clothes, we did our debrief and went home.
