The gay and lesbian Street Patrol received training from the Guardian Angels in defending the Castro neighborhood in San Francisco from gay-bashers. The group of about 20 people wear fuchsia berets and T-shirts that say "Don't Tread on Me.'
In a recent training session, Erich Van Benschoten (left, back row), Ellen Twiname and (in front) Terry Jones listened to instructor Christopher Ford, a member of the Guardian Angels group.
