Sunday September 27th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels are assisting Solano County Guardian Angels at ROCKRIDGE Out & About Street Festival for SECURITY. All the San Francisco Guardian Angels arrive at the HQ at 9:00am to change into uniform and to do a pre-brief before we head out to the BART STATION. Now we are ready and most of us have done this before, it is all worth doing for the safety of the PEOPLE and the safety of the EVENT. Now we are on the BART heading to Rockridge, our contact is Omar AKA "O" Chapter Leader for the Solano County. We get there and we are advised on what to do, but we will need to split into two teams, I J.D. will be team one, and Cobra will be team two, we do have radio communication for both teams. "O" does go back and forth to each team to see how things are going throughout the EVENT and he does very good communication with both teams with the radio.
This is a HUGE EVENT and there are a lot of people, families with kids, and their pets and they even bring in their bicycles. As we do our tour we notice no bad guys here, no drugs or any drug dealing that we could see, no violence at all, and no thieves that could walk off with something because how busy it is. But there are always a few problems, like riding bikes in the EVENT we must have prevented some accidents that could have happened if we did not have them to get off and walk them. Next there was a lost little girl, everyone was on the lookout for her, but she was found, that was a big relief.
Other than that this is a kind of an EVENT that has fun, has all kinds of food and the memories that you can enjoy. As the day was ending we had one more problem, a homeless guy stealing all of the recycling from the containers with his store cart he had, we did let him keep what he had and escorted him out of the EVENT. Time was getting short, and it was time for San Francisco Guardian Angels to come back home, so we all said our goodbyes and thank "O" for inviting us for this EVENT. Next we got on the BART, we got off at our stop in San Francisco and headed to the HQ. We get there, we change back into our street clothes and we do our debrief, and we all said we will always remember this EVENT.

Muni bus patrol, 9/19/09
Saturday September 19th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels are doing a very special patrol this evening on the #49 MUNI BUS LINE. The story had came out a few weeks back about a little boy being stabbed on this bus, this shouldn't have happened in a safe place, but it did. There are 12 angels that has arrived at HQ to do this patrol, there will be two teams, Freddy (AKA) Greencard will be team one, and I Jerry (AKA) J.D. will be team two. There is no lead team or shadow team today because we will be split up into two #49 buses, each with six angels on board, and we will be using all radios for communication. Next we begin our pre-brief for upcoming events and patrols, then pick out our teams and make sure everyone is geared up, this means everyone has a full uniform on and duty belt.
Next we march to the bus stop on foot to VAN NESS, team one gets on the first #49 bus, then I J.D. team two got on the next #49 bus, we all had decided that when we where on the buses that we would be posted up into three areas, front of the bus, middle of the bus, and back of the bus, two angels on each post. Our plan is to talk to driver, give him a flier of the incident that happened with the little boy and to ride his bus to the end of this line OUTBOUND, he agreed. As Guardian Angels we are a professional group and we act like a professional group, we answer questions, we give directions, we stand at all times for other people to be seated, and we want it to be SAFE.
We get to the end of the line, we turn around and go INBOUND, but our next stop is on 16th Mission St. where we break for something to eat. Next we get right back on the #49 bus to do another tour on this bus line, as Guardian Angels we also abide by the LAW, the law states that you have to enter at the front of the bus, this ordinance is stated on the back doors of the bus, so we did follow through with this ordinance and ask everyone to enter at the front of the bus, as bus riders they didn't mind doing this at all, I guess it is the way we had asked them to do this for the riders to listen to us. But it all work out well, for the teams, for the driver of the bus who felt very safe, for the passengers of the bus who rides this bus regularly, and for MUNI because they do care about their transportation.
There were no bad guys arrested today and we could not take the bad guy that stabbed the little boy off the streets like we wanted, but we did our best as the San Francisco Guardian Angels, and called it a night. Next we came back to the HQ from doing the bus patrols to do debrief, everyone was wanting to something meaningful from this patrol, and I J.D. explained to them that we did! Because we care about people and we care especially about kids or we wouldn't be doing this, next we said our closing prayer, and everyone went home SAFE.

Los Angeles trip and patrols, 9/5-7/2009
Saturday September 5th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be going to LA to do a Campaign; patrols, tours and events of the area. There are 12 angels that will be driving down for this trip, everyone is packed, we have our uniforms and we have our radios and everyone is ready. We leave at 3:30am in the morning and get there at 11:00am, we get checked in the hotel, take a shower, grab something to eat, now we are ready for patrols. The LA chapter leader that is in charge is Mayo, he is the one that leads the patrol for Venice Beach, we also meet up with Hound Dog from LA. The tour up and down the boardwalk was the best that it can be, NO problems and NO bad guys, but we did take a lot of pictures with all kinds of people, everyone was in a good mood and the motivation is there, Mayo our leader decides to call it a day to move on to our next event.
We are all ready and excited about this next one because it is a party that we where invited to come to meet a few people and grab something to eat, we do this to keep the Campaign going and to get ready for the next patrol, we did not stay there long because there is a lot more we need to do. We did head back to the hotel to pick up Straight-Edge from San Diego and Crash from Venture, Mayo is still with us and he is the one that will be leading the patrol in Hollywood Blvd.
We all arrive at our meeting point in Hollywood Blvd. and we are all looking forward to meeting with Alex, code name Gemini another chapter leader for LA, there are some reasons why we are down here, to show our support for LA and for Alex. We all meet him and he looks good but we all know he is still recovering, he does have one of his members ready to come out for patrol with us, his code name is Titan, so we say our goodbyes and wish him well. Hollywood Blvd. is a area for a lot of partying, and a lot of drinking, and it is the place of the incident that happened to one of our Guardian Angel Leaders, so we are prepared and we know how things can turn out. There will be two teams, Mayo will be lead team and I J.D. will be shadow team, we have trained First Aid angels and we have the radios for communication, next we march up and down the strip. It is calm night and it is better than we expected, the patrol turns out with No problems and the only thing for Mayo to do is to call it a night. We debreif, we discuss our plans for tomorrow, we head to the vehicles, and we head back to the hotel to get some sleep.
Sunday September 6th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels wake up to a new and brighter day and look forward for another patrol in LA. We still have Straight-Edge from San Diego with us, and we will be meeting up with Mayo chapter leader of LA again for today's tour. This tour will be the MAYWOOD Festival, as we get there to the festival we have to look for parking, it takes awhile but we find one. Next we team up into two teams, Mayo will be lead team and Spider will be shadow team, now we are ready for patrols but it does not look to what we expect, the crowd of people was not there, but we still did patrols up and down the festival, and posted up a few times. We got to meet the MAYOR of MAYWOOD, I J.D. was very excited to meet the MAYOR of this city and we did get photos with him. Next we move on to a home for the disabled to meet with them and to let them know who the Guardian Angels are, this was a great plan to do this because they got a chance to talk to us and to meet with us to know what we do, The day was a good day, and we had done all we could do for this event, so the leader called it a day. We went back to the hotel to have a little time for ourselves and to get pack to leave the next morning.
Monday September 7th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels wake up to leave this great city to go back to our city with a good feeling. We are all ready to leave at 8:00am, as we were driving on the road we all are talking and where hoping that we had done enough to get all of the LA Chapters confident again because no matter what, we will always be there for them and we know they will always be there for us. We made it to San Francisco by 4:00pm, it was a long trip and we all were glad to be home. I J.D. thinks that we all have learned something from our trip, not only about LA but about our selves as the San Francisco Chapter, we are a lucky chapter we are a blessed chapter and if it was not for Curtis Sliwa's dream and idea, I myself would not be the man and chapter leader that I am, Thank You Curtis Sliwa!

Tenderloin night patrol, 8/29/09
Saturday August 29th 2009, we the San Francisco Guardian Angels will be doing a night patrol in the Tenderloin Dist. tonight, there are thirteen angels here at the HQ that has arrived to do this patrol. Everyone is in Colors, (Colors) means the uniform that we wear when we go out on patrol, everyone is excited because they know night patrol is different from day patrol; more bad guys, more drug addicts, more drug dealers and more drunks. We do prebrief, we partner up, and we are in two teams again tonight, I J.D. will be lead team, me plus six other angels and Scorpion will be shadow team, him plus five angels. We call the TL police station to advised that the angels will be in the area patrolling, we will be using all the radios for communication, now we are ready for patrol.
One thing about the TL we can march straight there, it is that close to our HQ, we march to Turk St. post up on some corners, it is all clear, next we march all the way to Van Ness St. everything seems to be pretty calm. Now we are ready to check out the alley ways, we spit the teams to cover one square block, one team to go down the ally and the other team to stay on the main street and meet each other on the next block, we will stay in touch with radios.
As the lead team going down this ally we walk up on a prostitute with a crack pipe, one of my guys Williams asked if this was her pipe, she said NO, so he placed it on the sidewalk and smashed it in front of her, (we do this to let them know that we do not keep these things for ourselves), and that we do not like drugs. We talked to her about getting out of this alley because it is not safe being here by yourself, she listened to us and moved on.
Next we marched down Ellis St. all the way to Jones St. posted up on some corners, they too are all clear. Next we march down O'Farrell, checked on some homeless males asleep on the sidewalk to see if they where still alive, but this is another thing that we do because if there is a chance to save a life we will do our best to do it, if we catch them in time. Next we march to Geary St. this is prostitute city, there where a lot out on this night, but we are not the police and this is not what we are looking for, we just hope and pray they have condoms for their johns to use safety.
We then march to Leavenworth St. back down Turk St. we post up on this corner because there is a main drug dealer on this street dealing his dope, he does not care about anything or anyone but he does notice the angels, he decides to leave the area. As we were posted up on this corner a young male had came up from in between two vehicles bleeding from his face stating that he had just gotten beat up from some guys that live with him in the apt. that they stayed in, we gave him first aid and got him cleaned up and advised him to go home or to get out of the streets because of how drunk he was, he was much better and he moved on.
It is getting late and it is getting a little quieter so we decide to call it a night and head back to HQ, we get to HQ to do our debrief, change into our street clothes, and comment on how we all did a great job on this crazy night, but a safe night. Read the rest
